Bridal shop or Outlet?
Yes, we've heard the rumours too. Bridal shops are super expensive, the staff are really stuck up and they pressure you into buying a dress
when you're not ready. Outlets are far better, right? We'll, here's our take on those outlets and how we compare..
“As the UK’s largest and most affordable bridal retailer, Probably the biggest chain of stores all over the UK, but there are plenty of
we sell all of our dresses for under £599” – (Source – WED2B website) bridal shops with enormous ranges. Not all gowns sold are under £599 and
lots of bridal shops carry gowns in that price bracket anyway.
“Unlike a traditional boutique, you can visit us at a time that suits you and You can visit a traditional boutique at a time that suits you, appointments are
there’s no time limit – take as long as you like, relax and have fun!” – not required everywhere, and we have no time limit either. However, in WED2B
(Source – WED2B website) you can only try 4 dresses, you then have to go to the back of the queue to try another 4 and so on, with us we don’t make you pick only 4.
“We’re passionate about our business and our core principals of quality, WED2B is owned by Jenny and Todd Cassidy who used to own a bridal label
choice and service” – (Source – WED2B website) called Catherine Jane. They went bust without warning in 2008 and left brides all over the country with no dress and walked away from it (we know, we were one of the shops they let down and we had brides who did not receive their dress). They then tried to sell off their remaining stock off the rail from their own premises and WED2B was born from that idea. Whilst this can happen anywhere, walking away from brides who have placed an order does not demonstrate passion and service in our eyes.
“Hundreds of dresses in each store” – (Source – WED2B website) True, but only 1 rail in your size.
“No lengthy wait for your gown being made and wondering whether your Your dress WILL be ready in time – when you order from a bridal shop you are
dress will be ready in time!” - (Source – Bridalfactoryoutlets.co.uk) protected by UK consumer law. Bridal shops are legally obliged to provide you with your dress, otherwise you get your money back. It’s the law.
“Being given space to browse without pushy assistants pressuring you to buy” - You are given space in normal bridal shops. However, you can find a pushy
(Source - Bridalfactory outlets.co.uk) assistant anywhere, in any shop, including Bridal Factory Outlets Newcastle.
“Able to try your dress on in your size” – (Source – Bridalfactoryoutlets.co.uk) True, but also true of bridal shops. What the outlets don’t mention is that by ALWAYS trying your dress in your size means that you take home the dress that other brides have tried on. That includes their make up, their fake tan, rips and tears that they have caused, and Bridal factory outlets do not repair the dress or clean it for you. In fact, their terms and conditions state –
“Our gowns are priced accordingly to fit in with our ethos of a discount factory outlet. Whilst we endeavour to ensure all of our gowns are in tip top condition some of the dresses may have slight damage or minor marks, in the main these are usually repairable. Please note that you the customer are responsible for checking the dress and being satisfied with it prior to purchasing.”
What this means is that when other brides have marked and snagged your dress, it is YOUR responsibility to sort it out.
“If in any circumstance your purchase needs dry cleaning, please seek the advice of a reputable and professional dry cleaning service. The wedding dress and prom dress factory outlets cannot be held responsible should any problems occur with these services and you use them at your own risk”.
What this means is that if your dress (because it’s an ex sample from somewhere or has been tried on by dozens of other girls) needs cleaning, you’re on your own.
Buying a dress off the rail at Truly Madly Deeply means that it is cleaned before leaving and any minor flaws are repaired at our cost. We are THAT proud of our gowns, we won’t let them leave until we’re happy with them.
“Being treated well no matter what your budget. Weekend openings.” You are treated the same in a bridal shop as you would be in an outlet. Your (Source – Bridalfactoryoutlets.co.uk) budget is irrelevant. Bridal shops are open at weekends and evenings.

"Our changing rooms are arranged for your comfort and ease and each of our Outlet stores have rows upon rows of changing rooms (think Top Shop). So

Dresses don’t always fit perfectly at the first try on, so the friends and families of lots of other brides can see you (and every part of you) in a dress which may or may not fit. At Truly Madly Deeply we have 1 large changing room, so you’re it. The only people who see you in the dresses are the ones you choose to bring with you!
